MAG ANALYSIS



MASTHEAD: The name of the magazine is in bold and is in large font which makes it stand out immediately and grab the audiences attention . Also the fact that the name is billboard makes it more relatable  to the young audience as they would know being of music based society what the billboard so automatically they would be interested. What also makes the billboard effective is that the fifth letter and on wards are filled in with colours which makes the front cover more aesthetically pleasing. Also the fact that the word billboard alliterates with Beyonces name makes the reader want to read the mag.   

MAIN PICTURE: The use of a very well known celebrity is very effective as it will attract not only Beyonce fans but people who know her but would like to know more,so therefore it will increase the amount that is purchased. The image is more than half way enabling the consumers to what's she is wearing and also her body. She is also looking directly at the camera which is a form of direct address that enables the customer to feel as though she is looking at them. Also the fact that her mouth is slightly opened and her hands are on her hips  makes the cover quite seductive which will attract the male audience. Also what she's wearing matches the background.

HEADLINE: Is a direct quote from Beyonce herself which will inform the reader that there will be an article where Beyonce gets personal as she quotes 'no one can define me' the reader will automatically be thinking, 'what is she talking about lets read more', so therefore the headline leads and attracts the audience to buy the magazine.

SELL-LINES: The first sell line informs the reader that what they'll be purchasing and reading will a limited edition which makes it worthwhile buying the copy as it will be different from all the other copies they've already published. 'winning looks' this will definitely attract the female audience as the majority of them seek advice on fashion, so the fact that the 'winning looks' are being shared with them it will encourage them to buy the magazine.  Also the sideline which states other well known celebrities such as Rhianna and Justin Bieber probably the biggest names of this generation, will attract a mass audience as all together they have millions and millions of fans, so they of course would want to know everything about their favorite celebrity.

COLOUR: The colour of the front cover is pink which has connotations of femininity so therefore females may have more of an interest in it than males. Pink is also a very vibrant colour which will make this magazine stand out on the shelves. However its interesting how the letters of the masthead are filled in with colours and these colours  happen to be primary colours which indicates that the magazine is not only for females but its unisex.

FRONT MAG

www: Well firstly this was my first time using photoshop and I have to say it was quite difficult, however I still managed to produce something. I really like how the image came out, its really natural and we are able to see the students in the school environment, which makes the front cover student friendly. The font I used for the masthead is effective as its unique which reflects the name of my magazine and I think the name of magazine will honestly make people want to read it as they'd want to see what's unique about the mag. 

EBI: I think there's plenty of room for improvement. Firstly i think I could have had more side lines to really sell the mag. I also think that my mag could have been better if there was more information about what its all about, so that the customers are clear about what they are about to buy.
